Reflections and Advice:
1.) What do you think makes your school unique relative to other boarding schools?
The Academy stands out in many ways such as how their is always active efforts to bring their immensely diverse community together and from person experience they have found great success. The school stresses the importance of diversity especially in a learning community and I have greatly benefited as a result.
2.) What was the best thing that happened to you in boarding school?
it’s hard to point at one moment from 5 amazing years but I would say my senior speech. It pushes boundaries for many to get up and speak to 100 people about usually a personal story. I wrote my speech on how the US needs to fix the surrene state of polarization in politics and blind party loyalty. That we need to see from others points of views and that in doing return to the principle our governing structure was based upon which is the ability and willingness to compromise for the greater good. I was selected to give my speech at morning meeting in front of the entirety of the schools staff and students, and was a moment I will always cherish and see as a turning point.
3.) What might you have done differently during your boarding school experience?
I would have moved into the dorm my freshman year and I would have tried out more aspects of the school or tried to have a more active role in the community than I had.
4.) What did you like most about your school?
I came into ca a struggling student, but out of everything I think my favorite aspect of ca was the worldly and cultured view students develop in their time at the academy. I’ve changed my perspectives on many things but also learned from my friends and peers from all across the world.
5.) Do you have any final words of wisdom for visiting or incoming students to your school?
The snack bar got the nickname pats palace. Pat is the operated and if you ever need something to talk to or get great food from go to pat. The best food on campus 100%. Also take advantage of the benefits diversity offers, talk to new people and broaden your horizons no matter how corny it sounds, it will change your life for the better.
Academics:
1.) Describe the academics at your school - what did you like most about it?
The academics have certainly become more rigorous even over the course of my five years. But with the introduction of the IB program a wide variety of classes are offered which challenge the motivated student and provide a unique global view uncommon to American educational institutions.
Athletics:
1.) Describe the athletics at your school - what did you like most about it?
Our schools athletics speak for them self, we have been very successful in many sports stressing the aspect of team cohesion and bonding which not only made us more successful but builds relationships which will certainly last for the rest of my life.
Art, Music, and Theatre:
1.) Describe the arts program at your school - what did you like most about it?
I was never as involved in this aspect of the community as it has never been an interest of mine.
Extracurricular Opportunities:
1.) Describe the extracurriculars offered at your school - what did you like most about it?
The clubs are numerous and a wide selection is offered. Allowing students to explore and discover interests while being active in the community
Dorm Life:
1.) Describe the dorm life in your school - what did you like most about it?
One of my favorite aspects of my time at CA, when I moved into the dorms my sophomore year. I have always found the environment to be fun, and more importantly the basis for the strongest connections I’ve made in my life all took place in the dorms. The underclassmen dorm for boys could use improvement but never fails to cultivate the bond of brotherhood.
Dining:
1.) Describe the dining arrangements at your school.
The dinning at Cheshire academy has seen significant improvements recently but with numerous restaurants around which deliver, ordering is was a staple of my diet.
Social and Town Life:
1.) Describe the school's town and surrounding area.
Cheshire is a quaint town but beautiful. There is a lot for students to do within a 10 minute radius. Another large weekend activity was trips to the city.
2.) Describe the social life at your school - what did you like most about it?
The social life is vibrant at ca, and diverse groups only further this. In pair with the dorm life social life is amazing.
